totally gonna screw up my now close to perfect sleep schedule by staying up till midnight
Things went much better today, I don’t feel AS lost as before (still kinda lost in someways) but I am starting to understand the “ropes” a bit more… still, there are lots of ropes to understand with this internship.
For those who don’t know, the “internship” i keep referring to is at a museum. I’m learning about how to give tours, how to talk about the work but not make it a lecture, how to facilitate event activities, etc… also, there’s lots and lots of reading involved.
The place is really, really cool. They’re all about making the visitors feel comfortable and creative, which is inspiring to me. I’m glad they’re trying to get away from that stereotype people have of museums as being stuffy and elitist. I’m a down to earth gal (or so I think? right? I mean, I reblog puppies and kittens on a daily basis…) but I love a lot of academic type stuff and getting analytical about things, so I feel right at home. It’s a nice dichotomy to have (gasp, I used artspeak! Something I’m not supposed to do.) I think it’s important because they’re showing that anyone can talk about art, you don’t have to use big words (you can if you want of course) the goal is just to get everyone talking about the art.
I love it.
